Student Government

Student government is an organization where students can develop leadership skills, represent their peers, and participate in school governance. It typically consists of elected positions such as president, vice president, treasurer, secretary, and class representatives. These students work together to plan and execute events like dances, fundraisers, and community service projects. They also serve as a voice for the student body, bringing concerns and ideas to the school’s administration. Student government fosters a sense of responsibility, teamwork, and civic engagement, preparing students for future leadership roles.

Religious Activities & Retreats:

Our students cherish their partnership with Bishop Snyder High School, where a strong bond has been forged through shared experiences. Bishop Snyder students regularly host Morning Star students at school Masses, retreats, sporting events, dances, and Fine Arts showcases. Many Snyder students also serve as mentors, helping Morning Star students feel welcomed and integrated into the larger high school community. This mutual support and friendship between the schools continue to strengthen, and we are deeply grateful to the Bishop Snyder staff for their warm hospitality.

Math Tutoring:

Tutoring is available, free of charge, to high schoolers beginning August 19th.

Students MUST schedule tutuoring sessions in advance.

Sessions are limited to 10 students weekly.

Musical Theater Production

At Morning Star High School, our musical programming is a highlight of the year, culminating in a vibrant annual production. Throughout the school year, students collaborate to create a memorable performance, showcasing their unique talents. Whether on-stage or behind the scenes, all high school students are required to contribute, fostering a supportive environment where creativity and teamwork thrive. This cherished tradition allows students to share their skills and hard work with family and friends, celebrating their achievements and building confidence.

High School High Tech (HSHT) provides students opportunities to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)related careers. Through HSHT, students are connected to a wide range of career development, resources and experiences to enable them to meet the demands of the current workforce.

Students explore the many exciting educational and career opportunities available after high school while learning leadership, communication and technology skills. Students also have the chance to attend a five-day Youth Leadership Forum in Tallahassee, where they meet other HSHT students from across the state.

HSHT is a year-round program for students, ages 14-22, with varying abilities. The program is funded by The Able Trust and has been shown to increase student’s self-esteem and decrease their dropout rate. Through HSHT, students and their families are connected to local businesses, educators and the Vocational Rehabilitation office to help further their goals after high school.

History of our High School…

A Legacy to Celebrate: The First Graduating Class of Morning Star High School

Being the First Graduating Class Happens Only Once!
Meet Anthony Rein, Madison Wingerter and Ricardo Foster (right to left). Our very first Morning Star High School graduates! On Thursday, May 23, 2019 they received their diplomas at our inaugural commencement ceremony. This huge accomplishment is made possible by the many wonderful people who supported our Building A Brighter Future Capital Campaign to expand our campus.

I had a vision for an excellent special education high school.  We have a responsibility to provide students with a high school education. With the help of many, we have given hope to parents and students with learning differences. We have made a dream come true.”  -Jean Barnes, Principal 2007-2020
